You are better off with a HD Homerun. It integrates directly through DLNA. It's cheaper and handles cable as well.

Can you do all the same things like record the live tv and use it on roku devices? Im really interested in a solution like this I'm about to cut the cord but i need something easy for my mother to see her shows

I have mine set up as a backend for a pvr on xbmc, so that's how I record. I'm not sure about roku, but there are a bunch of dlna players for ios and android. The couple that I've tried work fine. It also works fine with my Samsung TVs so I don't need to run antenna or cable to them.
