Never mind, I figured out the problem.
/////////
Running 14.2 [ git:7cc53a9 installed via PPA] on a x86_64 machine with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
System has audio output to a digital output, but Kodi has it set to output via HDMI - this has worked fine for years.
Starting Kodi, the audio is so barely audible I had thought my speakers had broken.
TV and PC works fine together, other applications sound is as expected.
Checked my audio settings, hadn't changed a thing since installing the new version months back.
Turns out my per-application audio setting for Kodi was at about 10%. I put it back to max, watch some TV, then as soon
as the episode is finished and no audio plays for a while the sounds goes back down to 10%. I think it goes back to being low after audio inactivity.
This all can happen while I'm still in Kodi.
There is as much chance of this being a problem caused by Ubuntu, but I would like to rule Kodi out before I take my problem to a different site.
It seems that Kodi is the only thing effected, which is why I come here first.
So does anybody know why Kodis volume is being lowered or by what? Any way to have it stay consistent?
The debug run I did, the issue occurred.
System volume is max, Kodi per-application was set as max on the last run, yet the sound has been lowered.
Leaving it on for a while and playing a movie, the audio was still low. I increased it and the audio was fine.
Then I closed the movie and left it idle.
I already notice that on my second monitor, the per-application audio has been lowered.
