Linux Linux Mint + KODI on Intel NUC (5i3RYH) hangs hard
#1
Hello,

I bought an Intel NUC box to use as a set top box with KODI, but it doesn't work.

My problem is very easy to reproduce, I would think. Here is what I did:

I downloaded Linux Mint, latest version (15.3)
I installed it on the box.
I selected KODI (actually XBMC) and downloaded it.

I started KODI. Kodi works for about 30 seconds. Then the machine hangs hard and I have to reboot it by holding down the power key.

I have a wireless Microsoft keyboard with a built in mousepad. It is possible that the keyboard stopped working but the box isn't frozen solid -- I intend to hook up a real mouse and keyboard tonight.
Other than that I am welcoming ideas on what to try.

Can you reproduce that hang with OpenELEC?
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Do you want me to install OpenELEC Linux?

The reason I tried Mint by the way is that I had already experienced the hang using the latest Ubuntu....

Mint and Ubuntu are related so maybe OpenELEC will make a difference. I will probably try and report back.

The reason I ask is, that we don't support Linux Mint. Therefore you need to ask Mint specific issues in the Mint forum.

And something else: No one can help you without a proper Debug Log
