Force GUI refresh rate?

I've recently switched from OpenElec to Ubuntu+Kodi. (reason: wanting to run Steam Games). Most things are fine but suddenly my projector (Panasonic PT-AE3000) doesn't work most of the time EXCEPT when playing actual 23.976 movies. The projector supposedly supports 60,50,25,24,23.976 but only 23.976 works now.

Any suggestions on a proper fix?

Alternatively: any way to force my GUI to 23.976 hz? I'm pretty sure there USED to be an option to force GUI refresh rate but it seems to be gone for some reason.
System: Kodi on NVidia Shield 2015
Video: Panasonic AE3000 Projector / Samsung 46" LCD
Audio: Quad 2912 on Nord DM500Up with Marantz 7010 receiver.
