Does 16.1 suport Main10 HEVC HW decoding?
#1
Im running Win10x64 Pro on ivyb 3770K and Nvidia GTX1060 which has HW support.

Ive enabled DXVA renderer and turned on DXVA2 in settings yet when I play 10bit 4K HEVC I get massive CPU usage across all 8 threads.

A lower bit rate file (~30MBps) would play fine (but still mid 20s CPU usuage) but I have a 60MBps one(Main10 L6.1 HEVC) that hits highs of 120 in spots and its a stutterfest.

Running this same file through DXVA Checker benchmarker hums it along at 190fps /w 2% CPU usage but thatuses its own renderer.

I did a search through the forums, and while I could find nothing definitive is it simply because 16.1 is not using my HW acceleration (for Main10 profile HEVCs at any rate) and this is something changed in v17, which should?

Use v17 - it supports it.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
