New Release - Missing most of the text?
#1
Question
Guys,

Hope you can help?

I've done a search but can't find anything.

This morning, I updated xbmc to the latest level. When xbmc loads, I am missing most of the text/labels.

There is no text on the left hand side of the home window, and very few labels are visible in the settings menu'sHuh I can however see the scrolling text at the bottom of the homepage.

Any ideas? I've cleared out the TData & UData, and have completely copied the xbmc folder over the top of the previous releaseHuh

I'm stuck!!

All help appreciated Nod

Thanks
Stace

you updated by overwriting the contents of xbmc folder.
delete pm3 folder and copy pm3 again

Have done so but hasn't made a difference!

Its really strange I've been updating in the same manner for the last three years and not had an issue !!

When I delete the pm3 skin it doesn't want to remove the skin.xml. That an issue??

use another ftp than xbmc's (so xbmc isn't running) then you can remove any file you want

Thanks, I'll try that tonight!

Out of interest, why would this happen now? Has the code changed that could have affected this? I've been updating on a regular basis for about 3yrs and never had a problem & I always update in the same way Oo

it happens because our skin engine uses all files it sees, so if a old file is not present in the new build, and you update by overwriting all files, the old file/s remains and is still used

Yah. I've done this too. Usually, I will forget that I have XBMC running and try to copy over the update. It does some weird things like making all the text disappear.

I usually just boot into Avalaunch. (My backup dashboard.) And copy over XBMC again.
