I have an early gbox mx2 and can not run the new version of kodi. I dont want to throw the box away. Can i go to kodi.tv and install an early version of kodi and get it to work? And is there a better way?

The Android version on your box is simply outdated. Android 4.2 will not do for Kodi 17 or 18.

You can have a look here if an older version still works.
Otherwise, there is always the option of using it as a bookend...

You could also try an old fork of Kodi Jarvis from:

I also have the gbox mx2 laying around.
I have used codesnakes openelc version for a long time. There’s also an updated libreelec version that works flawlessly.
Maybe look at

..and try your luck with this great piece of antique ..! ;-)
