Solved [BUG] Video Playback issues with latest K*18 nightly on Win x64
#1
Bug
See:  https://trac.kodi.tv/ticket/17897#ticket

Issue started with: KodiSetup-20180529-795b10a6-master-x64

Note: The previous nightly worked so it is most likely due to a recent PR that was merged.

@afedchin (I'm sorry I broke Kodi again 🙃 )

Thanks!

Same issue here no videos will play at all and causes Kodi to crash every time.

I will reinstall the previous build which did not have this issue.

June 1 build allows videos to play again but now all videos appear to be in blueish tone color.

May 29 is the last good working nightly build.

I tested the 180531 Win x64 nightly on win7 x64.  My reported issues are resolved, namely:
1.  No longer get what I considered "spurious" prompts to confirm saving video resolution on clean install or when toggling windowed/full screen (in window).
2.  Settings / system / display settings now work as previously (with addition of resolution whitelist)

Resolution whitelist continues to work in settings and can be selected in full screen OSD menu.

Testing AVC encode with hardware decode of BT.709 video color shows no problems.  Turned off DXVA2 and still shows no problem.  Poster reporting problems needs to submit debug log to pastebin.

Update:  I ran through a a couple of hevc encode BT.2020 HVR videos (SW decode required) and see no color difference from before (had been using 180515 nightly as a "reference" for Leia).

Was that related to my issue?

Anyway I just figured out why I am getting a blueish tint for all videos.

If you enable "Allow hardware acceleration -DXVA2" videos will look blueish and when I disable it all videos are back to normal.

here is my debug
With hardware acceleration -DXVA2 enabled

And with hardware acceleration -DXVA2 disabled

From your log it appears you are running Win 10 fast ring preview ver 17682 (1809).  Might be a windows issue.  Would be nice if you could test on current win 10 release 17134 (1803).

So I just tested kodi 18 nightly June 2 build on my computer running the current windows 10 release 17134.1 and with or without hardware acceleration -DXVA2 enabled no blueish video issues.

So it appears it may be an issue with the latest Redstone 5 insider preview builds in this case build 17682.

Thanks for taking the time/effort to test on different windows build.  I don't have an answer for the  DXVA2 issue, but at least the devs have a better place to look.

 Your welcome

Yep when DXVA2 is enabled on my computer running Redstone 5 build 17682 all videos looks like a Smurfs movie Smile lol

But all is good on the current Windows 10 release build 17134.48.

I've just upgraded to the latest windows nightly as had to downgrade back to v17 due to the live TV audio sync issues. More times its out of sync than not. The same programme may be out of sync I will then change channels 3 or 4 times and go back then it will be ok.

I use pass through to my amp to enable upmix to 5.1 DD. Works perfectly on 17 but the audio is behind by about 1 second. I can change the delay but then it's out of sync again when I change channels. Like I say no issues previously on v17. Makes no difference if it's set to direct sound or wasapi. Also note when this issue occurs I can't mute or change the volume.

Any help appreciated.

I just wanted to chime in and say the issue with the blueish color on all videos when DXVA2 is enabled on Windows 10 Redstone 5 builds is now fixed with the June 5th build of Kodi 18 nightly Smile

it's still an issue of graphics driver. nightly till June 5 have 10bit output enabled by default. this causes a lot of issues on some hw so we disabled it.
