samba is not working with my hd
#1
i use a crossed net cable direct to my win2k pc and static ips. ftp works fine.
i shared the cdrom drive of my w2k and a couple of folders of the hd, with the same settings and user grants in the pc.
the xml path are also similar, but when i try to access only the cd share works. the folders shares get an "access denied" message (just like when i have no cd in the pc cdrom reader).
please help, i think i've tried everything!

does samba depend on the kind of media i am sharing? is there some kind of log of the samba server to see what is happening?
(i mean, something like the /var/log/samba log in linux)

i only get an "access denied" when i have typos in my xml bookmarks.
you are absolutely sure that you have got it right?
and did you use a trailing "(/)slash" after your share. that solved my problem.

maybe it will help if you post your xml bookmarks.
and no it doesn't matter what you share. you will not get an access denied error for that.

Thumbs Up
i must be a little bit dumb.
i forgot to grant rights to the xbox user on the ntfs folders i wanted to share (i mean rights for the file system, not for the samba share)
the fact that the cdrom drive hasn't this kind of user control puzzled me.

sorry and thanks for the effort.
