Solved Nvidia experience 9.0.1 + Kodi 19.4 - Can't stream reliably
#1
Hi!

I'm running kodi 19.4 in my nvidia shield pro (2019) running nvidia experience 9.0.1 and it can't play more than a few seconds of a 4k movies and it will stop playing like it can't buffer or something. Also, when I try to stop the video it crashes in the videoplayer and I need to force-close kodi.

I had already update advancedsettings with around 300mb buffer and it didn't solve.

If I use playerfactory and then tell kodi to stream the same movie in another player e.g. JustPlayer, it will stream flawlessly without any problem. So it seems some issue with kodi itself.

Any hints?

Coming to our forum with a crapload of (non-working) video piracy add-ons is almost like visiting the police HQ building to ask where you can get drugs, mkay? Don't do that again. Ever.

@fjfc
Perhaps you have a clean debug log for us to work with?

what if playing files locally is precisely what i want to avoid? having the hassle to manage disks space. Streaming always worked almost flawlessy, it is just just now with android 11 that the problem appeared

What if the video plays fine locally, then we know the video file itself is fine, and the problem lies in the https connection. Your https://lina.contntly.com/ link is quite vague and not really googleable. You sure it is processing your files well enough?

It's simply the process of elimination, just like Sherlock Holmes does.

*update on the situation

i did some research and i found on another forum a mention about a problem between kodi an android 11 handling http2?

so i added an advancedsettings.xml with in it:

<advancedsettings version="1.0">
<network>
  <disablehttp2>true</disablehttp2>
</network>
</advancedsettings>

from a first test everything now works correctly, it could be the correct temporary solution, while we wait future versions of kodi or shield/android
