Android Mounted SD Card Storage and Kodi.
#1
Hello,

Kodi seem not able to write on SD cards mounted on my Android tablet. Writing to internal storage is fine. App permission allow Kodi to write on internal storage but I don't know how to enable such permission for mounted SD cart.

Thank-you,

Guillaume

That may depend on which Android version your device is running. Android has become quite strict with file permissions during the last couple of versions.

Goodday,

The device is running Android 10. Is there a way to override this strictness?

Thanks

AFAIK, can't be done since v17 i think. Or Android 6. Or combo of both.......was a long time ago https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=304517
Though, still find that reason about taking you out of KODI, ONCE, pretty lame for the convenience it would provide. And every other app that needs it does exactly that. For me, the reason was that I could download and save subtitle in advance on a HDD connected to my TV so the wife would be happy.
To clear things a bit more. Android TV came out on Android 5 and v16 was current version then. And that was possible. Then v17 came out and broke it. Later SONY updated TV to android 6 and completely broke writing for the user, only apps could write in their own folders. So needed to change approach anyway.

I did it on my phone, it's a LG G6 with Android 9 and Kodi 19.4.
It works for me.
