Video plays slightly too fast.
#1
When I play a video it is slightly too fast which also results in the audio pitch being slightly higher than usual.

It isn’t a constant speed, it is faster at some times more than others. I’m able to watch the progress bar at the bottom of the screen and see the time counter run slightly faster than it should and someone’s “ skip” a second ahead.

I am using a CRT tv as a display.

Here’s the log

Need to enable debug mode in settings>system>logging. Then capture the problem.

But a 720x480i CRT display is probably something beyond what the developers would consider looking at.
What is processing the audio? The TV or do you have an AVR?

The TV is processing the audio. I’ve also tested it on a modern tv and the same issue persists. I’ve tried playing video through an add on and files I’ve uploaded.

I enabled debug, here it is:

Something is wrong with it. Looks like you enabled debug mode after you pressed play.
Enable debug mode, restart Kodi, then play your video until you experience the problem.

Yep, that's the one.

I see you playing The Twilight Zone on Line 814.
Line 876 shows stream details as 1440x1080 [SAR 1:1 DAR 4:3], 23.98 fps, 23.98 encoded as hevc.
From Line 1002 you will see the errors in the video stream during playback. The stream has fallen out of sync and is trying to adjust itself, which explains the audio pitch and the faster counter.
I am guessing your 1080 @23.976fps resolution stream is not being handled well with your 480i @60HZ TV.
And IIRC you can't change the Hz on a CRT. I see the SlyGuy addon so you are either aussie or kiwi. Your CRT is most likely fixed at 50Hz.
How are you converting from an HDMI output to RCA input?
I doubt there is a fix for this problem.

Do you have a modern-(ish) flat screen with HDMI inputs? If you do, can you test on the flat screen?

I’m using Slyguy but I’m in the US. Not sure if that’s a problem since the issue occurs when I play files other than through add ons.

I’m using a Pi 4B which has an analogue output jack. TRRS. So I just plug that directly into the CRT TV. I don’t have a micro HDMI to test it with on the modern TV, but I can test it with the RCA. I tested it and the problem acts the exact same on both TVs.

Ok, so your screen would be 60Hz.

So only local media then.

Sorry, I am not really sure where to go from here. Maybe someone with Linux experience can hop in and advise.
But I think it is an issue with the video chain going through your analogue cables into an old CRT TV.

By any chance, do you have the "sync playback to display" option in the player settings enabled? That would explain the speedup.

I’ve tried it disabled and enabled. It didn’t make a difference.
