I just installed the SVN trunk xbmc on Ubuntu 9.10 beta due to needing the support for my GPU.

So far it seems to work fine for playback of videos. I have try to set up a CPAN stream using the .strm file. The file has:

wmlive/cspan1v.asf

mpayer can play it fine but xbmc does not play it.
What am I doing wrong?

Works for me. Not sure if it's a paste error, but you should make sure the video url is a one-liner.
