Hi all

I have a Yamaha rx3900 amp and have a 5.1 speaker setup and have xbmc set to passtrough for hd audio. I have also set xbmc to 5.1 but is it better to set it to 7.1 in xbmc settings ? Even though I am not using it as I would of thought when using passtrough it would send all the max channels and then the amp would decided on how to decode it.

Does this setting matter when using passtrough. When using bluray players I would of thought if the sound track had 7.1 it would send it to the amp as 7.1 and then the amp would sort it into 5.1 as that's how my specked config is.

This is why I am asking the question on what o set it at.

Set XBMC speakers count to whatever you actually have.
