i am stumped as too what the issue is, certain video files will not play when being streamed from my pc.
these same files work fine on my pc and on an older version of xbmc that i had on a [-forum-auto-response- team-xbmc do not recommend using slayer] 2.6 install disc. once i upgrade to the newest release 2006-01-29 i can no longer play them.
i have a log for one of them, it's an avi file, but i also have an xid that does not work. what's strange is cd2 of this same file works yet cd1 will not. in any case here are my logs any help will be greatly appreciated.

you ran out of memory. either drop down to 720p or reduce your video cache to zero and/or disable unused services like web or ftp.

i don't really understand what would cause this to happen on certain files, especially this one considering cd2 is larger and yet it'll load up without a hitch?

it has nothing to do with the size of the file your trying to play but assuming both cd1 and cd2 have the same video dimensions, i would expect they both fail.

apart from size the only difference is cd1 has a data rate of 166kbps and cd2 has a rate of 228kbps.cd2 loads up fine.
am i wrong in thinking that cd2 should cause more problems?

i cant explain why specifically cd1 is only having the issue, but i know with 100% certainty that you're running out of memory by the "malloc failed" error message. just do what i said earlier.

2 of the files worked after disabling the web browser and ftp.the final fle that wouldn't load needed me to also lower the cache.
