Vortex Wrote:You can add me to the list, I have an X3CP and my XBMC has been freezing since v2.0. I'm always upgrading hoping the newest version resolves the issue but no such luck with the last few updates.

Same issue here ;( I've got a Toshiba LCD (connected via component cable)

If any of you disable the LCD screen on xbox, does it stop?

None of us can reproduce, and until we can, nothing will be done about it.

Ofcourse, if you're willing to debug stuff yourself, then fine.

I suggest running XBMC in debug mode from visual studio until it happens, then provide callstack info and info on exactly where it's crashing.

Right.. here is the log file http://dyna.mooo.com/~pirat/logz/xbmc.log
System crashed when both gamepads were connected to the console. Like you probably noticed looking through log file, I was doing absolutely nothing.. just hanging around, jumping from movies tab to music etc...
So here are my thoughts...

No idea what's wrong whatsoever Wink

I know it's been a while since anyone's looked at this, but the issue is still plaguing my poor box.

As of the latest update (12/23/2007):
- XBMC's UI would become unresponsive during video playback within 10-20 minutes.
- Upon video completion, XBMC would stay at a black screen, where the only option is to reboot.
- No controllers plugged into the console, only IR Remote Receiver in port 2.
- X3CP / X3 LCD being used and functioning correctly during playback.

I've done some more digging and found a post in regards to the automatic temperature control. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it now.. anyway, last night, once I changed it back to a constant fan speed (ie 50%), the next video I played did not have the UI lock up.

I will be running more tests of course, but it looks like auto fan speed is the culprit. Also, I do recall a lack of lockups once a controller was plugged in, but can't speak to that at the moment, will have to do more tests.

Anything you can find that will help track this ghost down would be helpful.

I'm not sure if a Debug Log will tell us anything or not - essentially the GUI thread seems to be locking up by the sounds of things.

Please have a play around and see what you come up with.

Cheers,
Jonathan

I've got the same accidental hangs on my machine. There are no messages in log file. I see no pattern in this behaviour. I have found only (by testing many builds) that some are not affected by these hangs. Currently I use T3CH 10-09-2007). I have NO hangs in it. Perhaps somebody would like to check this version of xbmc. If it works properly we will find what is wrong by comparision.

I will agree with haken, that there was a build some time ago that was not prone to hangs, but would not be able to provide the revision no.

As an update to my debugging, I continue to have zero hangs after turning off auto fan control. I also tried turning it back on, attempting to replicate the hang in debug mode but have been unsuccessful.. will continue to investigate.

I have recently changed my bios from Xecuter2 4981.06 to the EvoX M8 .67 bios (Slayers 2.7) and I feel this may be causing my xbox to freeze more randomly with XBMC. Seeing this thread I felt it might be worth mentioning and asking is this happening to xbox's with the EVoX M8 bios's mainly? Sorry not to confuse the situation but I feel its happening alot more since upgrading the Bios(Coincidental?).

I was having the same problem, try disabling the Screensaver.

Try Disabling the Screensaver. I was having the same problem but this seem to clear it up for me.

Sorry for the double post. I thought that fixed the problem but it didn't. I just can't figure what is causing the lock up.
