I recently upgraded from an ancient version of XBMC to the most recent stable Kodi, and was pleasantly surprised to see that playing back 3D content is way easier. The video OSD worked great out of the box (and even better after adjusting some settings so the OSD setting doesn't prompt me), and I was able to make a 2D smart playlist and a 3D smart playlist to keep the movies separate in my library. Even subtitles worked!
The last thing I need to make it seamless is for my LG TV to auto switch to 3D. This happens when I play 3D content from other sources (like the PS4/PS3), but not Kodi. I still have to manually enable the 3D mode. I searched a bit, but most of the threads I saw were for older versions and had what looked like outdated info.
If there's no way to do it, I can just make an on/off macro in EventGhost and create a button for it, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.
My setup:
Windows 7 HTPC, connected via HDMI to a 1.4 compatible receiver, connected to a LG TV.
Kodi 14.2
Nvidia GeForce GT 430
