Linux Kodibuntu scrambled screen on startup.
#1
This has been going on for years, and I am starting to get annoyed.

Running Kodibuntu 15.2
(Though same problem on all previous versions I have used)

HDMI connection to receiver, then to tv.

On initial boot, kodi interface is scrambled.

Ctl/Alt/F6 then Ctl/Alt/F7 fixes everytime.

Sometimes if the receiver is powered up on a different input, then switched to Kodi, issue is avoided.

I realize this is probably some bs drm handshake issue.

Has anyone experienced any issue like this?

Any fixes, hacks, or workarounds?

Maybe delayed boot in kodi or something?

This issue litterally the only reason why I have a keyboard connected to my kodi box.

what model of the AVR is it?

what hardware are you using? (specs, GPU is the most important thing)

make sure, you boot up Kodi as the last device in the chain, to be sure, that all devices are up for the handshake.

provide a Debug Log after reproducing your issue.

Sorry.

It is a Sapphire Radion HD 5450.

Though I have had the same issue with the handful of video cards I've tried.

Receiver is an Onkyo TX-SR607.

HP Compaq dc7900
Core2Duo E8400

I will check my harmony settings, and make sure pc powers up last.

Thanks

Kodi was set to power on last, but with the harmony remote, theres not much of a delay between powering up devices.

Maybe thats the problem.

Not sure how to log the problem, and I honestly don't think it would be logged, cause I don't think Kodi knows there is a problem.

Is there some way to force Kodi to refresh the display after startup?

Kindof hacky, but at this point I don't really care. As long as it works.

I tried delayed startup but that only delays from powered off state, not from sleep.

Turn on debug logging in system settings, then SSH (wiki) in while the picture is scrumbled and run the following command:

Code:
pastebinit ~/.kodi/temp/kodi.log

and provide the URL you will get after the command.

Please don't think that there is no error in the log because _you_ can't image there might be one. Wink

The context in here is: no log, no issue

G'Day guys - sorry to butt in - but I've also got a Onkyo TX-SR607.......cbanakis....we have the known HDMI bug:

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=Onkyo...jwPhr6CQBw

For now with my system (Kodibunti Mac mini circa 2012 on HDMI) I've had to jump around on the HDMI inputs; DVD -> VCR HDMI port - then it works fine.....
BUT! - this wont last long - its a known issue with Onkyo HDMI on our generation Amp.

Good luck though!!!
