I remember reading a while back that Kodi can be used as a slingplayer.

Is it true still and where can I find instructions to set it up?

If the feature is still there (I don't know off the top of my head) it would only be for SD streams. HD wasn't supported. Sling boxes are added as video sources (wiki).
