Some addons only work in Canada like CBC but in my experience the android app in conjunction with a chromecast works better. I am also a Canadian with a raspberry pi, and this year I am considering getting an android TV device like a WETEk or a Nvidia shield to run native android apps on in conjunction with kodi. From my experience (1 year ago not recently) the kodi addons for Canadian stations are hit and miss because of frequent website changes.
