I'm reaching out to you on behalf of Consortium GARR to ask to update our mirror informations on your mirror list page, in order to reinclude it in the active mirrors section.

Is there a reason to drop rsync and ftp? We need at least one of them to check if files are up to date.

We moved to HTTP only for a change of policy in GARR.
Is there a way you can perform the required checks using HTTP?

even if mirrorbits would support that(which it doesn't for the following reasons), it would mean we would have to regularly download _every single file_ to check it's hashsum. Putting aside the server load that would create on our server, I assume you also wouldn't like the considerable additional traffic.

Hello, after talking to the manager during the weekly meeting we decided to re-include the support for one between ftp and rsync.
We just some time to implement the new configuration.
Is it okay for you that we contact you back on this post when everything will be ready.

Hello again, rsync has been set up (for mantainer checks only). We would now need the IP, IP list or IP range of the machines which will perform the rsync check, in order to add them to the firewall.
