android TV skin Why is the Android TV interface not being developed? When Artic Horizon 2 is edited, it can be made to look like Android TV. This theme can be made to look like anything, but can't themes work continuously without updates? Lite for Python 3, fast working

For Android TV I recommend the Arctic skin: Zephyr 2 - Resurrection  (AZ2:R) it works great.   Smile

Other than the 21 skins on the Kodi skins page (https://kodi.tv/addons/omega/category/skins/) that seem to support 'All' operating systems, how would i know if a skin was designed for Android as well as Windows? Can i tell from the repository somehow?

Hello, @FrustratedUser

Basically, there is no way to check in the repository whether the skin supports "All" operating systems without any problems...

If you have any questions related to the selected skin, it is best to ask on the Forum of users and skin maintainers. I can recommend 2 skins that work on all operating systems, including those designed for both Android/Android TV and Windows.

Titan MOD, thread on the website:

Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Resurrection  (AZ2:R), thread on the website:

There's no reason a skin wouldn't work on any OS that I know of.

The only difference in skin compatibility is that some do not support mouse/touch input, other than that every skin will work on any OS.

Hello,  @jjd-uk

You're right that "the only difference in skin compatibility is that some do not support mouse/touch input. Other than that, any skin will work on any operating system."

There is another issue: the comfort of use provided by a given skin. For example, on Android TV in all @jurialmunkey skins, rewinding the movie in the movie progress bar via the Android TV remote control has a significant drawback, namely, rewinding the movie is very slow and there is a lot of buffering.

This defect does not occur in several skins, I include them only to give a specific example of what I mean:
-  Estuary
-  Titan MOD
-  Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Resurrection  (AZ2:R)  This defect was in the old version, but in the new version of the AZ2:R skin it was removed by the skin maintainer @TurDo and scrolling in the progress bar of the video in the AZ2:R skin is very fast, without any buffering.  Smile   Attention. The function after repair in Android TV works well, but you need to enable the options in the skin AZ2:R settings,  screenshothttps://prnt.sc/YKvvi0uUpkvJ

The scrolling progress bar in the Estuary, Titan MOD, AZ2:R skins works very quickly (even lightning fast), there is no excessive buffering, first the scroll marker goes to the selected place and a moment later the bar appears. Unfortunately, such fast action is not available in @jurialmunkey skins.

In short, skins work on every operating system, but the functionality may be better or worse...

What you describe is very unlikely to be due to the skin interaction with AndroidTV, it's far more likely to be a hardware resource issue instead. Some skins run additional helper scripts for fetching of additional metadata, or features that the Kodi skin engine doesn't natvely support, and these can add an additional reosurce load, so some skins with these may struggle on devices that have limited resources. It's far more likely that a cheap AndroidTV device is going to have limited resources and struggle with these types of skins, however you don't say what type of device you have but if it''s not a higher end device like the FireTV Ciube or Nvidia Shield then this could be the problem.

One thing you could try and look at the installed addons and start disabling them one by one to see if that has any effect, starting with anything that appears to be a helper for the skin. If that results in an improvement then you have something solid that can be fed back to the author of the addon.

My Android TV equipment is Xiaomi Mi Box S and Canal+ Box. I have no idea why in @jurialmunkey skins the movie scroll bar behaves in a faulty way, i.e. it works very slowly and buffers.

However, it is not the hardware's fault, but the skin's fault.

There was an identical problem in the Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Resurrection (AZ2:R) skin, but the skin maintainer @TurDo fixed the problem. After repair (the repair was mentioned on Github for this skin and a skin with an improved movie progress bar was added to the repository). After this repair it works really well, it's very fast.  Even in pause mode, you can use your Android TV remote to scroll through the video. Just enable the options in the AZ2:R skin settings, screenshot:  https://prnt.sc/YKvvi0uUpkvJ  (the function works by pressing the left/right button while being on the video progress bar). Importantly, the reaction on the video progress bar is always immediate and precise. This works perfectly in the Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Resurrection (AZ2:R) skin, I note, on any Android TV device.   Smile
