VLC - How to kill after play?
#1
I am using VLC 0.9.8a as my external player but I can't figure out how to :quit the application after playing the video. Any idea?

(oh..I can check the play and exit box for playlists...but I don't use playlists.)

thx

I don't have an answer for you, but I fail to understand why, on Windows, one should use VLC. What's the advantage? I doubt it can offer significantly better performance than the internal XBMC player and being not Dshow based can't leverage specific Windows features (hardware acceleration, shaders, etc.).
I'd use MPC-HC or Zoom Player (which both offer what you're after, the first it's free).

Does Zoom or MPC-HC play isos? I thought VLC was one of the few that did, besides XBMC of course. I could be wrong.

I appreciate you looking at my thread none-the-less. I began to use VLC because it looks better than the internal player IMHO. Besides, I can switch output to 5.1 surround. Zoom player has a fee and I don't know much about MPC. What I do know is that there wasn't an MPC installation, just source files. I am stilling researching codec and other configs to make my HTPC look any better on my 1080i plasma. But for now, VLC is my default and external player.

If only I could get it to automatically close and return focus back to XBMC, that'll make my day. LOL.

thx

VLC:quit in the command line, according to a quick google search.

You should really look into MPC-HC though. It supports GPU acceleration and GPU post-processing. Works great with 5.1 dolby digital and dts. You don't have to compile it or anything. Download the latest versions here: http://www.xvidvideo.ru/content/category/1/1/2/ Set it up to use DXVA via this guide: http://nunnally.ahmygoddess.net/watching...sing-dxva/
