Automatic WakeOnLan upon accessing MySql or FileShares

Thanks

If I can offer an opinion:

1) Make sure that your motherboard has the latest BIOS. Check the Asus site and upgrade if necessary.

2) Check the Asus web page forum for that Motherboard and see if there is a wake-on-lan thread.

3) TEST functionality

Set your sleep time for 5 minutes. Have it sleep and then wake it by keyboard and magic packet. Test that several times, over and over to make sure it does it as you expect, just as a thing that is doing what it should be doing. (XBMC should NOT be used in this point)

Then finally, when things are going well...

4) Set your server sleep for two hours.

Yes, two hours seems like a long time, but this ensures that you are done watching XBMC, and that all has been quiet for some time.

It also works well if your XBMC has been idle and you want to watch something... You wont need to do whatever you need to do to run wake-on-lan again.

While you may choose something different, I know that this works well for me.

I wish you good luck!
