If we suppose that scrapping a game information take approximately 10s (to search, identify, download data, cover and fanart images). So to scrap 30.000 games it will take you 300.000 second... so around 84 hours. On your case, to only scrap 10% of that will take... 8H and half (so not far form your 9 hours). Advanced launcher is to launch applications, media files, or games. Not to collect them. 30.000 is a big collection. But how many games are you really play or use...? 1-2%?
Don't get me wrong, I realize that this is going to be a slow operation, that's why I'm looking for a faster method.
I've found other channels for game names (listxml), screenshots (progettosnaps) and descriptions (MAME synopsis from RCB.) I can write a simple script to parse all this stuff and put everything in its appropriate places, and I've figured out how Advanced Launcher keeps track of its files (I found launchers.xml and the format is pretty simple.) That said, the one thing I'm not clear on is how the ID field is generated. Any insight on that, at least?
To properly setup a big collection you need to filter your ROMs first to avoid unwanted ROMs (like clones). Also, you can avoid online scraping at all if you copy your local artwork and generate the NFO files. Have a look at this software that does just precisely that.

By the way, Angelscry, there is a bug in Advanced Launcher about offline scrapping. For MAME collections (Arcade) it always takes ages compared to console collections. Please tell me if you need logs about this problem to investigate it.
