You'll probably have the same behaviour in android, just don't use acestreams and keep with sopcast streams. The reason everyone is moving to acestream is because it doesn't have any 3rd party control, so acestreams won't be ever blocked. Sopcast streams are blocked sometimes just few moments after the event has started. For what I understand, acestream bittorrent traffic is not encrypted and, for this reason, your isp (and most isps) will throttle the traffic at their own interest. Probably trying a vpn won't hurt for testing...
There are still plenty of sopcast streams available (mostly spanish and russian), you just have to connect before the event has started.
Acestream buffering is not my fault I'm affraid :/. It works the same way in aceplayer, probably a bit better than in xbmc but pretty much the same.
