I'm actually looking into this one right now. At first glance I don't think there's much that can be done automatically. I am looking at unmuting when pseudoTV starts, but there isn't an "unmute" function, just a mute toggle. Next though is to check the current "mute state" when pseudoTV starts and if it's muted, toggle mute off, otherwise do nothing. From what I can see, there isn't a way to check the mute state. Anyway, I'm looking at it, not seeing a good way around it yet.
Ultimately if a user can't or doesn't shutdown correctly the mute problem happens. I tried logic to detect bad shutdowns.. No luck. mute state feedback would be perfect!
Maybe a happy middle ground can be found then. How about a new settings under "Tweaks" called "Mute during channel change" that defaults to on. If it's on, then no change to the current functionality, if it's off, then don't mute between channel change. Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of muting between channel changes anyhow?
