I'm trying to automate adding Christmas and Halloween movies to my library and PTVL Channels, and add a Holiday episode channel, what i have gotten figured out so far is :

1.) I created a .bat file to move my Christmas movies from a different directory to a folder in my movies folder (and a separate one for Halloween movies)
and created a .bat file to move my Christmas movies from the movies folder back to the original directory (and a separate one for Halloween movies)

2.)I then use Eventghost to execute the .bat files on specific dates and send a update command with VoxCommando to XBMC (or a clean command if removing the movies)

3.) I created Christmas and Halloween movie Channels in PTVL
( if i remove the movies from the library then those channels are no longer shown Big Grin )

now the problem I'm running into is that I created a playlist with all the Christmas Episodes i have, and created a PTVL channel for it, so i tried to remove the Playlist from the Playlist folder to see if that would stop the channel from showing up, but that didn't work i tried to Force reset PTVL and also tried to restart XBMC but the channel was still there. Sad

so what I'm trying to figure out is how can I automate the removal of that channel, I found that if i add this line

Code:
<setting id="Channel_6_rule_5_id" value="5" />

to settings2.xml then it disables the channel, so far all I can think of would be to use some type of script (AutoHotKey, .bat or VBS) to add that line of code to the settings2.xml at the end of the Christmas Season and then remove that line of code at the begging of the Christmas Season. but before i went full boar in that direction i thought i would see if someone would have another idea, i don't know much about coding just enough to get me in trouble so using a script would be my last resort

any ideas or help would be great thanks

and thanks for the great add on

I enjoy tinkering as well. Have eg running tons of custom stuff... If you don't mind... Your setup might be too complex I would:

Create smart playlists for each holiday. (Xmas.xsp,Halloween.xsp,etc)

Use your date eg code to copy n rename a season playlist to "seasons.xsp" at the xbmc playlist folder.

Have a preset ptvl channel that always plays custom playlist seasons.xsp Smile

This assumes u use scraped movies.

When the season is over copy a new playlist... My personal fav r playlists that filter for newly added shows

Luna i like your idea for swapping the playlist out,
but for the movies i don't want them in the library all year round, i feel it clutters things up when i know we wont watch them through out the year, but i like the simplicity of swapping the playlist for Christmas Episodes ill have to figure out what channel I'm Willing to swap and then ill also want to swap out my logos for that channel but that i can do with .bat so we're golden there, Big Grin

luna speaking of Tinkering, I had an idea and after finding this post you might be the guy to talk to

I want to say, "Guide" and the guide show up.
"What's playing?" and vox speech tells me whats playing.
"Next page" for next round of channels.
"Watch this or watch channel (Name)"

VoxComando can use the youtube plugin, so one can say "search youtube for X" a/nd it will play.
I was wondering if this is something you might be interested in creating in the future

Yes, but you can get by with using Voxcomando with eventghost. Without using a special script.

Since guide is triggered by the "enter" keyboard key...
map it to a vox command Smile

You can get fancy'er by having the vox command only work when PseudoTV is running...

i was curious how i could get VoxCommando to know when PTVL is running i have created voice commands for every channel but for that to work i had to have it send the channel number then select to make them work, i thought it would be cool if i could use VOX to tell if PTVL was on or not so i could say "Watch the Christmas Channel" and Vox would see if PTVL was running - if not then launch it then go to that channel - if running then go to that channel,

just a bunch of tinkering for me

sorry for adding on to the original question, but right before you replied i found the last quoted post
