I think the main reason I decided to stick with Kodi mounts is that with OS mounts, the boot hangs at startup if the PC isn't on and the share isn't available. Perhaps it would work to use a WOL command and a suitable delay before attempting the OS mount to avoid this problem but I don't know if that's possible with OE at present.
