With Windows, I had my NAS folders mapped to a Windows drive letter. In Windows-Kodi, you just add the drive folder in Files and it automatically scrapes them and adds to Movies/TV Shows/etc. I couldn't get it to do that with Kodibuntu because my NAS only shows up as a UPnP device which apparently doesn't work with scrapers/library features. I just get a list of files, but no metadata, etc. I'm sure its just a matter of configuring my NAS slightly differently and figuring out Samba/NFS. It was getting late. Otherwise, the Kodibuntu install was perfect.
just map the NAS folders using SMB, either from Kodibuntu or Kodi itself. I usually just manually add a server with the IP of my NAS, then add sources based on the shared folders
