I installed the android M preview and I must say that google really fixed a lot of issues with this version.
Framerate switching finally works, even when receiver is in standby mode which it never did before.
The playback is actually smooth now, no jitter like in 5.1.1.
You can actually use external storage in a simple way and make kodi store the data on a usb drive instead of the internal storage. I have not tried the "adopt external storage as internal" feature yet, but might do that just for fun later on.
You can also install ES explorer and Kodi from appstore, so the need for sidelauncher is diminished.
Still testing it out, but seems likely I’m keeping it for now, was prepared to sell the device before I installed this update.
Future updates of the preview are going to be OTA (over the air).
The only major problem I’ve found this far is that HW decoding of HEVC seems to have gone missing. Which in all honesty is no major problem at this time, might be a XBMC problem, or maybe google will fix it in the future.
Must say that so far I recommend people to update if you experience problems with 5.1.1.
