I meant it's likely to cause issues playing AVC/MP4 video files with hardware decoding disabled, not TV MPEG-2 files. Depends on the bitrate, etc of course but even if your files play OK with software decoding it's still a lot less efficient.
I have major problems with TVheadend anyway. Every time I go to use it my USB tuner is no longer detected and I have to power-cycle to fix it (reboot doesn't work), which might be a driver or OE problem but either way I can't use my RPi for TV. It's a KWorld dual tuner and I bought three of them (one for my brother's RPi, where he says TVheadend keeps uninstalling itself!) as they were listed as working with Linux certainly, maybe even the RPi specifically.
