Have a good look over on the Minix forums first for the current issues U1 owners have would be my suggestion, its not all smooth sailing.

Once you start looking around the $150 price range you should really be considering the nVIDIA Shield, for the extra functionality vs the U1.

I hope you have a Fat and fast download pipe. Had a brief look at these Netflix / Amazon 10-bit 4K HEVC's, Dukester was talking about. 100GB + for a movie or 10GB for crappy low quality re-rips of TV Series like Jessica Jones from Netflix. I suspect the HDCP Keys have leaked from a disgruntled developer, ones that may have already been revoked.
You are better off just watching the original sources in the first place considering the amount of data involved. I would suggest a 4K Netflix player if that is the case, such as the Shield. Your 4K TV probably already has 4K Netflix anyway.

UHD Blurays have new forms of copy protection on them that has not been cracked. You cannot Rip them even from legally purchased discs to your home video library. You will need a massive NAS. We are talking around 100GB+ for a single movie.

So for decent 4k qualiti to use tv. For more quality MINIX U1?

Can we say that MINIX is future proofing with furhter firmware and software development?
