I suspect that you're getting the error only for yesterday's archived games. If you select a much older event (eg. a game back in 2015), it should work fine. At least it does for me. So it seems to be affecting only the games of the upcoming season (both archived and live).

AFAIK maxgalbu is trying to fix this but I think he's got no active LP subscription. Now it'd be a good idea to think about organizing a donation, this guys deserves it!

ps: judging by the latest commits in github, he also seems to be working on the service upgrade for his plugin, where the live streaming of either the games or NBA TV won't be interrupted every few minutes. Good one.

I haven't tried but I will check today. Nevertheless, it is this season that is important, of course, not the previous ones. The problem is that simply streaming it from the browser there is awful frame skip and the action is not smooth, no matter what I try. This app performs amazing, it is smooth as butter and the general menu selection is much better than the actual NBA League Pass online.

We need this app. And we should all get a donation going.
