Which recommend right now better for the Nvidia Shield 16GB (2n Generation) Kodi 16.1 or 17? Thank you

SPMC. It's based on Kodi v16 but works much better on Android.

I'll 2nd that. For the really high bit-rate 4K files I get much better results with SPMC. No idea why. 6 months ago pure Kodi worked better for me than SPMC. I'd like to be on Krypton for the PVR "use channel numbers from the backend" implementation as I can use the favorite channels feature of the Harmony remote.
