BTW, this magical codec is called h.264. Many video cards, including the onboard ones, support hardware decoding of this, making cheap $150-250 HTPCs for HD content a reality.
h.264 > xvid/divx
Better compression, better quality.

I couldn't agree with you more, it's just that currently, XBMC doesn't support hardware decoding of h.264 material, meaning that unless you have a pretty nice CPU, you can't watch them without some modification of the program.
I don't want to sound like a brokeazz, but the majority of the machines I have are built out of parts gleaned from older computers people don't want. So, I don't have a dual core, which means divx for me...
