Sorry I should have said in the original post, all ports are HDCP 2.2 which added to my confusion, however, I have just put an old splitter box between the mailbox and the AVR . This seems to have partially tricked the signal as I can now see the ATV interface. However Netfllix is still having issues as all I get is the logo and swirling circle.

I had high hopes here, but this is the last straw, as I need Android apps and KODI but only have a 1080p TV in the kids play room, I'm going to ditch this box and get a cheap Amazon Fire something.

Oh though to your point about 4k players all being the same. I tested a shield on the same setup and it had no issues at all, it's got to be something xioami or the chipset are doing weirdly hasn't it?
