Whatever good a box upscaler is, it will never be as good as your TV's

I'm going to reply with a big maybe regarding "Not as good as your TV". That is what I used to think as well.

For example you could now do a blind test between a LG C7/B7 55" / 65" OLED TV vs an Apple TV 4K and it would be really difficult to tell which device was doing the picture upscaling.
That is how far we have come with Tech at the end of 2017 with decent Firmware and Hardware under the hood.
