Hey there!
I'm a long time XBMC/Kodi and RCB user, new to the forums.
Maybe one of you guys will be able to help me out.
I played around with older versions of RCB in the past, and I was able to customize it to some degree, meaning: tweak it to my personal preferences and - by resorting to some ugly hacks and not-so-elegant edits to the .py and XML files - stuff some features in that even worked... for me, at least. ;-) After all, it was just for personal use. I'm anything but a skilled coder, but I got the thing to look and work as I intended. That was way back in 2013.
Now, after a long break from launching my games from Kodi, I finally decided that Steam's Big Picture mode is NOT a sufficient means of managing my game library, so I went back to RCB.
For the record: I haven't made the switch to Kodi Leia yet, I'm still on Kodi Krypton 17.6.
I'm using RCB version 2.23.
I was very pleased with most of the changes Malte made to RCB over the past few years, and so I decided to be VERY careful with customization this time, and, for now, stick to mostly cosmetic changes and not delve into the Python code unless absolutely necessary (and unless I halfway know what I'm doing. No wild edits!).
I'm a fan of Kodi's Titan skin (which I was able to customize to some degree, too), and I always wanted my game library to better "fit in" visually with the rest of my media, so I got to work and even though there are still a LOT of rough edges, I'm quite pleased with the result so far. Don't get excited/upset/disgusted, like I said, this is for personal use and does definitely not meet everyone's taste (and yes, I'm German):
This is my movie library in my customized Titan skin.
This is my customized RCB main view, set up to match the movie library look as closely as possible. Hey, there are even media flags.
This is my movie info in my customized Titan skin.
This is my customized RCB Game Info view, set up to match the movie info look as closely as possible. Yeah, there are multiple buttons, currently, however, only one works ...
I haven't really messed with the actual Python code yet, but I do have a question:
From what I just eyeballed when I took a quick look at the .py files... did I get it right that video playback has pretty much been removed from the game info? Or am I simply too daft?
EDIT: Not too daft. Solved. Fiddling with dialoggameinfo.py and setting my "Play trailer" button up correctly helped.
