One question: does this new release going to have any upgradability going forward like to be able to change kodi to a newer version or is it impossible for the way kodi is implemented? For 17.6 one thing that kept it alive this long was that you could update DSPlayer to a newer release, this greatly improved stability with modern audio codecs which have come pretty common in these... what, 7 years since this GOAT player was released.

Ill try to explain so you can understand because by saying you can update dsplayer 17.6 to a new release is false. Their were not just big enough change in kodi that made previous release obsolete from what you use in kodi. I would say mostly if any big change come in addons, skin engine, ffmpeg or tv and movie database in the main kodi branch you won't even notice your using an older version of kodi

I'm sorry, I meant LAV Filters. Some newer media would crash DSPlayer 17.6 and updating LAV Filters would fix that.

It always been the case for dsplayer siince day 1 if you update directshow codec you have more control over media playback

Update: i reuploadeded the release file https://github.com/tiben20/xbmc/releases/tag/dsplayer let me know if their is still other dependency not met. Maybe libplacebo as some missing ones
