Hey Funkytown (or anyone),
I stumbled on this post a few days ago, and I can't thank you enough for all the effort you put into sharing this with us. I just borrowed an appletv from a friend and it's nothing compared to the old xbox and all the different file choices and ability to access network locations. I just was wanting to move into HD stuff and now I have an answer.
I think I have your method down pretty well and I've managed to convert some MKV files of a few 720p television shows and was able to successfully get them to play on the xbox with no dropped frames (choose the correct values based on the frame size).
However, I am having trouble with a few movies that I have where when the final file is finished, there is simply no audio in them at all. If I look at the MKV file that I'm trying to convert, the audio properties say "Channels 6, Audio Sample 48khz". Once finished, if I do a properties on the final file and hit details, the audio listing is blank. If I look in the folder where the temp files get extracted, I can see the .wav file or the .mp3 file (based on which audio file type I try) and I can play them independently but they are simply not in the final file.
I've tried this procedure with 2 movies so far at least 5 times trying different audio choices using StaxRip but can't seem to figure out why the audio is not making it into the final movie.
Based on the original picture from this post, it looks like you chose 'DivX' as the conversion type and 'MKV' as the final file container and I've tried that using all the allowed audio choices but still can't seem to get sound.
Anyone have any thoughts?
