Apple TV1 with Crystal HD Card: OpenELEC Build vs XBMC for ATV w Crystal HD support?

I have the Broadcom Cystal HD card.

What would be better, faster? I've heard Open ELEC is much snappier.

Thoughts? Experiences?

Also, lets say I begin my journey towards OpenELEC on my ATV1 I am wondering how to do the following?

1- Procedure (How to) to build an OpenELEC on USB Pen Drive/ Stick for TESTING PURPOSES ONLY on ATV 1 + Crystal HD Card - URL/ Files?

2- Procedure (How to) to permanently install OpenELEC on HDD: ATV 1 + Crystal HD Card - URL/ Files?

3- Procedure (How to) to restore the above OpenELEC ATV1 back to Original ATV OS - URL/ Files?
Assuming that I want original Apple TV OS back.

4- Is it at all possible to have a dual boot on ATV1? :

1. OpenELEC (Default)
2. Original ATV OS?

Thoughts, examples/ URLs on this direction?
Could this be done and if so how?
Please help Guide me > How To? Maximize data/ meta data & library storage on NAS & minimize on Kodi box
