No. You cannot. As you quoted:

- DSplayer has limited network stream support (including streams from PVR TV-backends). This is not exactly its issue, but rather a DirectShow limitation - there is no universal DS source filter which can support various network media streaming formats. to play network streams with XBMC's default DVDplayer.

rtsp, rtp, mms,http,https will work with lav decoder/ dsplayer (but not rtmp), i have tested this by myself. i had successfuly runing pvr / mediaportal tvserver (rtsp) with dsplayer/ lav. if anyone is interested i can show how to do that.
