@Milhouse just noticed my overclock is not applied since installing this debug enabled version. Maybe that is why I couldnt reproduce. I will reapply the overclock and try again tomorrow, too tired now.
My overclock for pi2 was:
arm_freq 1000
core_freq 500
sdram_freq 500
over_voltage 6
over_voltage_sdram 0
initial_turbo 20
