May I however suggest that you merge all GSoC subforums into one single forum for GSoC, and move then all threads into it?
Perhaps you can only add thread prefixis to indicate which years that proposals was posted. That is, for the proposals only, as suggestion/idea only threads do not need a prefix at all.
Reason for this is that I think each GSoC subforum already contain many existing threads with great ideas, many of which could maybe only do with a refresh.
I believe that students would find it much easier to only roam that one single subforum for older ideas and proposals, and that way be able to compare their own proposal with those from the past.
So why not just consolidate all GSoC threads in once single subforum for all years? I don't think this will confuse people as long as you use thread prefix for year.
