[MAC] AC3 and DTS pass-through help?
#1
Question
I'm having some trouble getting AC3 and DTS files properly passing through to my receiver. This seemed to not be an issue before, as I was using a Toslink cable. My new receiver does not allow me to use a Toslink + HDMI sound combo like my old one did for sound and this presents a problem.

I purchased the monoprice usb + displayport to hdmi (http://www.monoprice.com/products/produc...1&format=2) adapter to fix this problem, however I'm running into one problem. I cannot get the XBMC to properly pass the correct AC3 and DTS through to the receiver. Here's what I've done so far.

Audo source info: AC3, 5.1 (L R C LFE Ls Rs), 48.000 kHz
Testing with Quicktime 10 first, then XBMC 9.11(release off website)
Settings from website: http://www.cod3r.com/2008/02/the-correct...quicktime/
Audio MIDI Setup: Format 48000.0 Hz and 2ch-16bit on the correct sound device (currently lists as USB Sound device)

Computer i'm using:
MacBook Pro 2.4ghz Intel Core2Duo 4GBram OSX 10.6.2

Attempt 1:
Perian Ver: 1.2 set to Audio outpus Multi-Channel output
Add cod3r.com AC3+DTS passthrough terminal passthrough settings
Quicktime properly plays the AC3 file to my receiver, all channels.
Audio Settings in XBMC Digital (Without AC3 and DTS capable receiver checked)
Play same file in XBMC, and i only get stereo with these settings.

If I check Dolby Digital AC3 and DTS capable receiver, the file plays slowly in XBMC with no sound and no channels show up on my receiver.

Attempt 2:
remove cod3r.com passthrough terminal passthrough settings
Quicktime plays in stereo
Audio Settings in XBMC Digital (Without AC3 and DTS capable receiver checked) - Plays stereo
Check AC3 and DTS Plays file slowly same as above.
Here's a pastebin of this: http://pastebin.com/f680a53d2

That's what I've come up with and I'd really like some help with this. I can only figure out how to get it working on Quicktime and I have many MANY files. I love XBMC and if someone out there has a fix for me that would be great.

I refuse to go back to FrontRow, that's like a step back in time. Blush

If you need more info, just let me know.

I would appreciate anyone's help,

Thanks very much!
