log + screenshot with info when you press "o" while movie is playing would help. This would be like the screenshots throughout this thread.
After careful investigation i come to the conclusion that with my mac mini late 2009 there is also something weird going on.

I always thought that I had smooth playback until I begane to pay close attention to it.
Before I just looked at the frames dropped and that is/was always less that 4-5. These are dropped during the startup of the movie.

Just now I played a movie and enabled "codec info" for about 30 minutes of watching the movie and I noticed that there are no frame drops, but when I notices a kind of stutter the fps drops from an about 24 to about 14-17 .

This is just a fraction of a second, after dropping to 14-17 it speeds up to 30 to level at 24 again, is under half a second.

This does not happen very often, say 2-3 times in the 30 minutes of playback I notices so it is very hard to notice if you dont pay close attention to it.

Is this the problem you are referring to, D-tyme ?I think it is the same problem

Setup:

XBMC SVN 33147
OSX 10.6.4 with all patches, including graphic update
Panasonic 42PG20ES, 60 Hz overscan enabled Full HD

In XBMC sync is allways on als VDA
no framerate adjustments enabled
MBP late 2009 - TimeCapsule 2TB - Harmony One+ - Readynas NV+ 8TB RAID5 - Mac Mini late 2009 with 10.9.0 and VDA - Panasonic TX-PG420ES -

I opened a thread about the mac mini 2010 hardware accelaration issue with 10.6.4 directly in the apple forums:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread....8208&#12248208

If you observe the same problem with your mac mini, please post in the above mentioned thread. i hope this makes it more likely that apple fixes this bug in an upcoming OS X service pack.

Cheers,

Chris

No Sad it seems to have fallen through the cracks.
There must be a reason why the mac mini drops frames and a MBP does not. Even using the 9400M on the mini and on the MBP the difference is huge.

even 720p files drop a large number of frames during a 45 minute episode, say around 120 on average.

Davilla, what can we do to help you identify the problem ?

I am willing to help in trying to get to the bottom of this.

This issue (at least this thread) is related to only the 2010 Mac Mini /w the 320m video card. We have already narrowed the issue down to the 10.6.4 (and above) drivers and not the hardware (as stated throughout the thread). The 9400M or MBP don't play into this.

further testing and results with 10.6.5

Would remote access to a 2010 Mac Mini be sufficient to debug the problems we're seeing in this thread? I am fairly certain at least one of us can setup a temporary environment for you.

I have been building my home theatre and seeing this fixed is a high priority for me so please let me know what I can do to assist.

I have a 2010 Mac Mini (2.4GHz / 2GB DDR3 / 320M chipset) with novice experience with Xcode 3/4 (iOS development) and years of experience as a *nix system administrator. Needless to say I feel completely at home on the command line.
