Intel VAAPI howto with Leia v18 nightly based on Ubuntu 18.04 server
(2015-12-11, 12:52)wwessel Wrote: I have an issue with the latest version on an ASUS Chromebox:

Starting a movie works fine, the movie is played flawlessly.

But when I stop the movie OE is restarting and I only have a black screen with mouse pointer on it. Then I have to stop/start kodi via ssh to make it work again.

cat ~/.kodi/temp/kodi.log | pastebinit: http://sprunge.us/GChJ
dmesg | pastebinit: http://sprunge.us/VIjE

EDIT: It looks like it only happens with SD material. I can't reproduce this with HD movies. But stopping the first SD movie it happens again...

Issue still there with today's build. I tried latest Milhouse build and it has the same behaviour. The last one without this issue was the Jarvis 16.0 build, so something is broken in 17.0?

Not a Debug Log - can you test without tvheadend? What about recordings?
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Your build is 4 days outdated - reproduce with today's version.

OK, here are the latest logs:

http://sprunge.us/eJHK
http://sprunge.us/bJPH

There's one thing changed in the behaviour: After restarting it stays with black screen for some seconds, then the GUI comes up again. The same is happening after wake up from suspend state:

Can you upload the crashlog from your home directory?

Still problems with OOS audio when using audio passthrough. And now downgrading to an older version doesn't fix the problems either Sad

For an average joe, is it recommended to use the Isenguard OE 15.2 build (which was last updated a month ago) or the newer Video Player 17 build (what is this?)

Average Joe should buy a FireTV ...

Haha... In post #2 it mentions beginner Isenguard OE build is for every day joe, just wondering if that's still the case.

No help without the required logfiles from thread 1.

When I first tried these builds back in September, I had an issue where I was getting no HDMI output on a refresh rate switch.

I filed a bug with freedesktop.org.

Just today, I thought I would give this another try.

I had the same issue, but discovered disconnecting the HDMI cable and reconnecting it would restore the video/audio.

So it seems my problem all along was an issue with hand-shaking after a refresh rate change.

I've temporarily worked around this by chaining the GUI to 1080p 23.98 which means for 90% of my content, no refresh rate change is required, and thus no loss of signal.

How do I fix this properly so I can get Kodi to do refresh rate switching and be able to re-establish handshake/signal with my AVR (Yamaha RX-A3050 with HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2)?
