As a further test I disabled pass through, the stutter is still there. There is no set interval or pattern to it, it is completely random.

I have same or similar problem with audio stutter both in newly released Matrix and previous v18 (Android TV, Sony XH9505).
It is completely random - audio of any format can stutter several times in one minute or no problems for ten minutes.
And it is not just drops - my receiver (connected to ARC) display says that at that time there is no signal (it is very short drop, maybe 1/10 of sec).
With same setup there is no problems with sound from other apps (streaming or other which produce DD signal) or from other sources passing through TV to ARC port.
Also, not sure if Kodi is switching resolution and framerate (my option is set to Always).
Log always says same stuff as described in this thread (1080x60) even for obvious 4k pixel test video (and sadly, Sony TV cant display current video signal info).

I have the same problem with audio stuttering.
It's completely random. Most files will work fine, regardless of the resolution or the sound format. The sound of the affected files cuts out every 1-2 seconds, mostly files in Dolby 2.0 format. I'm using Passtrough and the speaker configuration 7.1. I've had the problem since version 17. I'm currently testing version 20 Nightly on Fire TV 2. At 18 or 19 it was the same?

Hello,
Same problem here with v19. Nothing with V18
Settings :
Shield 2015
Avr Marantz
Adjust refresh : at start
No synchro display because I use audio passthrough
Audio track IEC
Out config audio : optimized
The problem is drop sound during 1sec, it's not every time.
Yesterday twice with TWD (aac)
Nothing with the hobbit 4K HDR (dolby atmos )
4-5 times / episode with Pokemon anime (dolby 2.0)

I have now installed a "nightly" from v20 alpha as a test (kodi-20210304-a4b4ce0a-master-arm64-v8a.apk). The files affected by me are now played back properly. There are no more audio dropouts. I haven't changed any settings. You can also try it out.

I have the same Problem with 19.4 Matrix (armv7a Android) and tested V20 alpha (armv7a Android) on a FireTVStick 4Kmax
Already have opened a bug notice on Github XMBC.
If Audio Config is set to: Optimized or Best Match Sound stuttering occurs
The sound Stuttering occurs in any Player on Kodi, Video, Movie, IPTV e. g.
If i set Audio Config to "Fixed Mode" the stuttering is gone but thats not a solution.
