Xbmcbuntu 13 Testing Thread
No one else experiencing the suspend issues I described earlier?
Reply
Suspend / Resume is game of luck, especially with proprietary drivers like nvidia. You can try to do that before you suspend:
Code:
sudo -s
echo 0 > /sys/power/pm_async

and retry. If that helps you can make it permanent in e.g. /etc/rc.local by only writing echo 0 > /sys/power/pm_async in the line before the exit 0.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Hi Fritsch,

yes I reinstalled the nvidia drivers using the package manager

"sudo apt-get install nvidia-331"

the driver installation works without trouble.

however, starting the x server with

sudo Xorg

or startx

fails ...

use the 304 driver your old ION is only supported by the legacy drivers iirc.

Hi Fritsch,

I just tried your suggestion. But the package manager states, that 304 is already installed and nothing is to be done ...

manually trying to startx with no success:

@StephanS:

visit irc please - that's too long to debug here.

Alright will give it a try. Didn't have those problems before on the same hardware with XBMCBuntu 12. Neither on a ZBOX ID67 running XBMCBuntu 13 beta 4. Really kinda weird ... BTW, no nvidia drivers here. All Intel ....

EDIT: Seems to help man, thank your :-) 10 suspend cycles so far, no problem.

OK, sounds good.

Here is my info. The machine was working the previous version of xbmc fine (Frodo)

dmesg | pastebinit

pastebinit ~/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log
Unable to read from ~/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log

Your hard disk is so severly broken - replace it. http://paste.ubuntu.com/7347321/

Edit: please provide: lsmod | pastebinit

If it's a buggy sdcard reader, ums_realtek ss_en=0 could help, but let's see first.

Hi,
As mentioned earlier, I'm having issues with xbmc not recieving key press from my keyboard or flirc. It happened again and here are the logs.

pastebinit ~/.xbmc/temp/xbmc.log
dmesg | pastebinit
dpkg -l |grep mesa | pastebinit
pastebinit /var/log/Xorg.0.log

I don't know if I have seen any consistency in the type of video played that causes it, but I haven't seen it happen with the many mpeg-2 or few VC-1 mkvs I have. I believe, but am not certain, it has happened only with AVC videos. Here's the MediaInfo of the file for the last occurrence:

For the record the problem of @StephanS was solved by simply restarting lightdm. The Atom CPU in combination with the CD-ROM drive was so slow compiling the nvidia module on first start, that lightdm simply timed out.
